The cooking show you should be watching

I wanted to make sure that you were aware of a show on NHK World called Your Japanese Kitchen.  I watch it every week, and everything I have made from the show has been super yummy.  This week was a shorter version of the okonomiyaki episode, which make very, very happy, because I love okonomiyaki. (the link goes to the recipe, not the episode)

Even if you don’t get NHK World, by the way, the website has six years’ worth of authentic Japanese home-cooking recipes, which should last you a while.

If you want to cook and eat okonomiyaki without having to buy the individual ingredients, you can visit Sometaro the next time you’re in Tokyo (a “make your own okonomiyaki” restaurant with English menus).  If you’re in the northeastern US and don’t want to cook anything at all, check out Otafuku in the East Village of NYC (it seriously felt like being back at Sometaro, except someone else cooked the okonomiyaki).

What is your favorite Japanese restaurant in your area?
