So, yeah. I fell off the face of the earth due to work shenanigans which are a long story (and are technically not over yet). Basically, if someone is on a hiring committee at a northeastern law firm and wants a copyright or trademark lawyer (or, frankly, anything that is not tax or securities law), drop me an email. I’m not patent-bar eligible, but I am very enthusiastic about protecting copyrights and trademarks. I’m kind of sick of practicing in an area of law I don’t like.
Anyway, here are some things that have made me mad recently. I’m not really up to writing much right now, though, for various reasons, so I’m sorry for that.
1. Mother Jones posted a chart showing how dangerous the student loan debt is, and included this comment:
My generation got a cheap college education when we were young, and we’re getting good retirement benefits now that we’re old. Pretty nice. But now we’re turning around and telling today’s twentysomethings that they should pay through the nose for college, keep paying taxes for our retirements, and oh by the way, when it comes time for you to retire your benefits are going to have to be cut. So sorry.
This is exactly the problem, and even Mother Jones can see it (although maybe they wouldn’t take the next steps of admitting that not everyone needs college in the first place and that Social Security is unsustainable in its current form). But what do Mother Jones readers have to say?
The solution is MOAR GOVERNMENT SPENDING!!!, and by the way, the only reason the GOP doesn’t want to keep throwing money at students to get them to attend overpriced colleges that award useless degrees is because they hate education. No, really, read the comments.
2. They really do have no argument besides pointing at people and screaming, “RACIST!!!!” at the top of their lungs, huh?
Okay, sorry, that’s all I have the energy for right now. I need to go apply for some jobs.
